Region
Caraiva is a fishing village located in the "Corridor of Brazil’s Discovery" in the south of the Bahia state.
This region has been the focus of attention of many environment agencies, national and international organizations. It has received the title of natural heritage site by the Unesco for sheltering significant part of the Brazilian biological diversity. It has many parks, Atlantic Forest reserves and maritime ecosystems. Besides natural attributes, which includes a beautiful complex of clean beaches, the region has a cultural and historic heritage and is considered the cradle of Brazil’s discovery.
The mixture of ethnic groups creates a cultural diversity, which is reflected in the art, cuisine and local architecture.
